30-06 165 gr BT Hornady Interlock
How is this bullet for a general big game bullet in a 30-06? Basically antelope deer and elk. Any input from experiences? Also any good loads? What accuracy/velocity are you guys getting?

At 2750 to 2800 fps in the '06, it performs just fine on Deer and Antelope.

It might be a bit light for Elk, so I don't use it there.

I took a couple of deer this year with 165 gr. Hornady Interbonds out of a 30/06 and they worked just fine. Over Varget, I get about 1.5 MOA with the load. I don't remember how fast that particular load is but apparently fast enough.

For deer and pronghorns the 165 interlock is a fine choice. For elk I would prefer the 180 as a minimum but the 165 will do it as well.

I suspect 165 hornady a litttle heavy for antelope & mule deer. I load 59.8 gr of RL19, Fed 210M primer in RP brass. I have a custom 25 inch douglas stainless barrel with 1;11 twist & get 3/4 inch five shot groups. Kills big mule deer bang-flop. that is with hornady 150 interlock..had a 140 sierra blow up on a mule deer a few years ago from my 270 & will never use sierra for anything but punching paper. hope this helps/ chaz

I used the 165gr flat base for a ten year period on a good many deer and even a nice mule deer and it did great and was very accurate to boot.

ive only used this bullet (165 flat base) on a couple of deer and a large black bear. i have recovered only two bullets. textbook mushrooms , good penetration and weight retention. they shoot very well out of my mauser/jchiggins mod 50. plus the price is about as good as us shooters are going to get .
