<Embalmer>Where to find 7.62x54R brass?
I'm not looking for match quality brass here. Just some cheapo stuff that works. It is for an old as dirt Mosin Nagant so match brass through this thing would be just a waste of money. But my buddy does want to load for the learning process, plus he is cheap when it comes to money, so loading is the way to go.
Any ideas?
Also what bullet weight would you recomemnd shooting for the Mosin?

TailgunnerYou could buy $Norma$ virgin brass, or their loaded ammo (also pricy).
The least expensive way however is to buy either S&B or Winchester (re-packaged S&B) 7.62x54R fmj ammo. It's Boxer primed, and reloads well (besides you can get 2-3 boxes for the price of 1 box of $Norma$ virgin brass.
might also want to try Privi Partisan.Good brass, about the same price as S&B

muskrathey it seems to me that you can buy this ammo by the can (440 rds) out of shotgun news for $40-$50 .i don't think it would pay to reload it at this price for any gun that you weren't after match accuracy would it?? just wondering?

<landtrain>Embalmer:
Try Grafs & Sons. They had some new unfired cases for boxer primers. $25/100
Go to J&G Sales in AZ. They have Winchester brass case with 180 gr SP & boxer primers for $8.00/20
Becareful of the surplus stuff. There's a lot of corrosive stuff out there, but you should clean your gun at least twice a week anyway. You never know!
