gohip2000anyone used the .308 Hornady 220gr round nose
I just loaded some of them in my 300 winny with a load that's supposed to do around 2650-2700 fps.
Has anyone used these bullets for hunting and how do you like them? has there been any issues with stabalizing in a factory barrel?

swheelerI've used them and their FMJ 220 gr in the 06 for mule deer, worked just fine, full penetration on both shoulders with the roundnose and a large exit hole. They both stabilize just fine at 06 velocities out of a 10 inch twist, the FMJ is .100+ inch longer than the RN.

Catfish HunterI run the Sierra 220 RN in my .300 mag (Stainless MKII as well) with excellent paper results (have yet to draw blood with 'em)...1/2" shot group when I was developing loads...3/4" "goofin' around" all day. I'm certain they'd do better than 1/2" given a more experienced shooter.

loud-n-boomerMy dad has used them for elk in his '06 for about 50 years and has killed a bunch of elk with them. In his rifle they are still stabile at 400-yards. I would think they would work fine in a .300 Winchester. They do a great job on elk as long as the nut behing the trigger holds tight.

p dog shooterI shoot them in my 06 scout rifle 18 inch barrel 2240 fps. They have killed all I have shot with it.
I just happen to have a couple boxes layin g around I pick up in a trade. I thought what a great short range load.

nordrsetaUsed them in my M700 30'06 in Africa in '97. They worked fine and were consistently accurate but seemed a little soft started @ 2450 fps.
