plainsdrifter52grain bullet in 22-250?
This is an old question to many of you but I am looking for a recommendation of aq 52gr.bullet to load in my 788 Rem.22-250 that is accurate and has a tendency to blow up within a coyote a good percentage of the time.Wish to start with Varget but open to most any powder. Any help appreciated.

packratI now use heavier bullets, but with Sierra#1400 and W-W 760, you can take gophers apart with a vengeance.

South40Check the Varget data here:
http://www.accuratereloading.com/22-250rem.htmlUsing that data, I tried the Berger 52gr HP , Sierra 52 gr Match HP and Speer 52 gr HP bullets. I got sub 1/2-inch groups with the 52 gr Sierra Match bullets. The Speer hollow points have a wide mouth and ought to be very explosive. Send me your address in a PM, and I'll send you a dozen on each to try -- South40

eshellLike ricciardelli, I would suggest trying H-380. I've had great success with it and the mid-weight bullets in my .22-250.

Cal SibleyI do most of my shooting from the bench and always seem to have a lot of Sierra 52gr. HPBT's around. When I go out after woodchuck I take the Sierras even though Sierra doesn't recommend them for hunting purposes. They're erratic on chucks, either making an incredibly clean kill or turning them inside out. It all depends on what you hit in the animal. You just can't tell. I load them up with IMR4064 34.1grs. That gives me about 3600fps which is plenty fast. I think the Nosler 55gr. Bal.Tips give cleaner kills. Best wishes.
