krazykarl45 acp brass with large flash hole
I picked up some brass the other day and after resizing/depriming, I noticed that the flash holes are really BIG diameter. What are the ramifications if I choose to use this brass for my reloads? Why the large diameter hole? I believe that the cases are Winchester.
Thank you!

ricciardelliThe brass is from Winchester's Non-Toxic loadings.
Go ahead and use them.

krazykarlShould I have two different charge weights for each flash hole size? I assume that the larger diameter flash hole may produce higher pressures.

I don't think you would have any problems with high pressure if you loaded up as normal. If in doubt drop back a bit, but I don't think it would matter much.

onefunzr2I doubt that the larger than normal large pistol flash hole would yield high pressure. However, I would shoot both kinds over my Oehler chrono checking for variation and accuracy.
I would keep them separate in any event. I'm just anal that way.

krazykarlThanks for the advice. I will go ahead and use the brass

I have experimented with reaming flash holes and its effects and must say it is negligible, the only reaming I do now is for the purpose of uniforming for accuracy loads for wich I use a 3/32" drill bit to ream the flash hole some brass comes with larger than 3/32" flash holes but most runs of brass has slightly smaller flash holes.
speer used to market an indoor shooting system in which plastic bullets were driven by the primers only. The flash holes were drilled out oversize in standard cases.speer warned of higher pressures if the cases would be loaded normally.
