300 H&H cases too short??
I just recieved a 50rd bag of new winchester brass for my 300 H&H. I put the calipers on them to check the case lengths and much to my suprise every one of them is shorter than the recommended min. length. They all measure between 2.820 and 2.830. The min. trim length in my manual is 2.840. Could this be a possible problem? Or should I just load them up and get after it? Thanks.

ricciardelliRun them through a full-length resizing die, then measuer them...

I have often noticed the same thing (0.010-0.020" below trim), but it has never given me any problems. You get a few more loadings without trimming. As Ricciardelli said, run them through the FL sizer, measure, and load them up. A lttle bit short will not cause any problems, but look out if you're too long!

<Don Martin29>It's true that WW .300 H&H brass is short. But the neck is nice and long anyway so just trim it to 2.835" and be done with it.
So far I like WW .375 H&H brass a lot better to make .300 H&H from. I can size them to a nice fit in the chamber and when they are fired they chamber again very easily. I expect to get much longer case life from the .375 brass. They size out to the same length however.

AtkinsonWith many 375's one should trim the cases back so the crimp, crimp groove in the bullet, and magazine all work together for an OAL or the round will end up too long for the magazine..Same with the 300 H&H if you crimp, in which case I do not, so its not a problem with the 300.
