butchloccfe223 article - interesting
in this months G&A magazine there's an article on the new cfe223 powder and copper fouling. According to the article this powder not only leaves the bore clean of copper, but by firing a few rounds loaded with it, it will clear the copper out of a previously fouled bore. if this is all true it should be quite the deal

krakyRead the same article. The spent a good deal of time using a hawkeye borescope so the results are for real. Just makes me wonder a bit thought if the powder is good with throat erosion or if it might be slightly more abrasive than other powders.
I guess theres no reason to worry but I'm thinking in the next couple of months there might be some benchresters that can tell us more about all of the above.

GrumulkinI don't think it was a "few" rounds they fired to clean copper out of a fouled bore but more like 100 rounds. But, maybe, 100 is a few to some.
The potential problems I see:
1. Some bores shoot better lightly fouled so you might not want all the copper cleaned out.
2. Copper in the bore probably protects to some extent from wear so a little might be good.
3. There is the question of powder abrasiveness. According to the article, the copper is removed because it's changed to an oxide and blown out of the barrel. If this is true, then the powder itself probably isn't more abrasive than others.
I'll likely try it and, if it's as good as they say it is, I might come up with some duplex loads to try in cartridges other than what it was designed for.
