Well, there are a lot of 9mm rounds but i'm sure you mean the 9x19 round everyone is so familiar with (9mm parabellum, 9mm luger, all same thing)

The 9x18 Makarov has a slightly bigger bullet than regular 9mm's it's something like a .365 cal instead of normal .356, so shouldn't confuse that. Bullet weight is lower in the makarov, about 90 or 95 grains rather than the 115 or 124 grain pills.

The 9x18 isn't as powerful as a 9x19 but is it slightly better than a .380 (9x17) by about 100fps. I really doubt whatever you'll end up shooting will notice the difference between any of the lot.

tomas,
9x17 - 380 -- 9mm kurtz 90gr, 850-900fps
9x18 9 mak (9 ultra?) -- 95 gr 950-1000fps
9x19 9 luger, "9mm" 115 1100-1150

Each is about 100 fps faster... with a slighty larger bullet..

the 9x18 is the largest round in a CONTROLABLE blowback pistol
