Hi
what about alliant r15 .they have the highest v with 150 gr and 170 according to alliant reloading manuall. what is written is not always the same as reality. i've ordered a box of BLC2 and rel 15,because they were mentioned with the highest result in manualls

<eldeguello>Either IMR 3031 or Alliant Re 7 would work well....also H322..... I've used all three in a strong-action .32/40 with excellent results, both as to velocity and accuracy....

skb2706WW 748 ........besides being very consistent it is very easy to meter thru a powder measure.

jstevensI've had great results with 33 grains of RL15 with a 170 grain Hornady. The chrono says 2130 fps and it won't vary 3 fps if you shoot a whole box of shells, groups 3 shots into less than 1.5 in. at 100 with a Win. 94 and old Lyman foolproof peep sight. This rifle shoots about 2.5-3 in. with standard factory ammo.

courtney platerIn addition to the fore mentioned powders, IMR4064 IMR4895 and Ball-C(2) especially for the 170's. My favorite is IMR3031 though.

ReloaderI've Tried several and couldn't get better than 2.5-3" groups w/ my Marlin 336. Then, I tried H4895 and started getting 1" or better groups and I had the speed I wanted.
My favorite bullets are the 150 RN Remington CLs which can be had from Midway pretty cheap.
Good Luck!

woody1Although 3031 is prob'ly what most 30-30 loaders started on (me included), a slower powder will give better pressure velocity ratio. The best are prob'ly IMR4064, H414 and it's ballistic twin 760, and my current favorite Reloader 15. Regards, Woody
