MohuntPrimers ????
Do you think that Benchrest or Match primers make a difference over standard primers?
Does CCI make a Magnum Benchrest primer?

Doc1). Yes.
2). No, or I don't think so anyway.

Ask 100 reloaders and get 40 yes and 40 no and 20 maybes
I say no for a hunting rifle.

kududeI have found Federal Match Primers to be better than Federal primers. I have found that Federal Match is sometimes better than WW primers which does not market a "match" primer. CCI does make a match primer-or they did. I don't care for CCI primers generally.
I generally will play with primers as a variable in load development last thing. I will generally work up a load selecting bullet, then powder, then seating depth, and finally primer.

butchlocusually not,but in a 17 rem. the rem 7 1/2 primer makes quite a bit of differance

Swamp_FoxMy limited tests give a nod to the benchrest primers.
For hunting rounds I wouldn't worry about the small difference.

US1IMHO Federal match primers do make a differance vs non in some of my gun-powder choices.
I use nothing but Fed. or Rem. in long guns, I find WW and CCI to be less accurate 90% of the time.
Pistols get anything I have.

FjoldI tested two loads with my 22.250. Everything identical except for the primers.
In my gun, the match primers had a smaller extreme spread by almost 20% (180 fps to 145 fps).
IMHO, a smaller ES should result in smaller groups.

I agree that it should.....but don't agree that it necessarily does.

fredj338The only way to tell is try some in your favorite load. In some carts./loads match rpimers are better in others a std. gives smaller SD.

DwightI don't know that the CCI BR2 is better but I use it for safety. I use both CCI large primers and CCI magnum primers for different calibers. You can't see a difference in the two and would be easy to mix up so I use the CCI BR2 for my 7mm08 because it has a B stamped in it and the CCI magnum is smooth so I solve a safety issue by using the CCI BR2.
