Finding RL-25 is a pain!
Have you found that getting RL-25 is a real pain in the ass? I have a 300 RUM that I want to try this stuff in, and I can't find it anywhere near me. Is there a reason very few shops carry this stuff?
If I can't find it around here (I'm not willing to order it and pay the shipping fees), what is an equivalent substitute? IMR 7828? RL-22? My rifle is a 700 BDL SS, so any of you that have the same gun, please pipe up on how different powders shoot in yours. I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

I have found that if you order several pounds of powder together, you don't end up spending much more than buying it locally. The local shops also pay the haz mat shipping fees, so their prices on powder are higer than catalogs.

RL25 is well worth trying. In cartridges where it performs the best (like the RUM) other powders don't really compare.

I'd go with the more common RL-22 and stay with it. I don't think you'll get much more by using RL-25.

For what it's worth, the Nosler manual doesn't even list any loads for the .300 RUM and RL-25. It just ain't that much slower than 22, in my opinion, to warrant killing yourself trying to find some.

I have no problem at all getting RL-25, but if you are, you might want to go to:

and see if there is something that you would like more...

I actually found RL-25 the most useful powder only when using the 130 grain bullets in the .300 RUM.

IMR 7828, 89gr. in my 300RUM was VERY nice.
BUT, RL25, was outstanding, around 93-94gr. w/ 180gr. bullets.
RL25 is the powder for my friends and their 300 RUM's also.
Yet anougher of Steve's Pages, that happened to shoot well in my rifle...sakofan.. [Wink]

Hey Jethro, you might check the Juniata Trading Post out there near Breezewood. It's a little bit of a ride, but i find they usually have everything I need.

If either of you boys want to take a ride to the Eastern Shore (Salisbury, MD) there is a gunstore over here with RL25 in stock. If you are headed to OC any time this summer, give me a hollar and I can pick it up and meet you on your way through.
