ReLoading 300. RUM ?
Hi I have a 300 RUM 700 SS Rem. with a brake.
I am looking to reload for this animal, so I am looking for some input from you fine people.
I have 180 gr. Sierra Game kings.
I have Alliant Re - 25, Imr 4831, Imr 4350, Dupont imr4064 and Dupont imr 4895. powders.
Where do I start? Powder ? etc?
Bullet jump - the darn bullet doesn't fit in the magazine at 3.710"AOL this gives me .020 jump. Factory 180s must have .160" jump? I guess I wasted my time on OAL. I only had to fit it to the dam magazine? What to do? What to load? Thanks [Confused]

I have had best luck with re-25.With 180gr noslers I get 3375fps and 1/2" groups at 100 yards.Given you situation I would change bullets.

Stubblejumper I was using RL25 in my 300Rum with 180 gr X bullets.I did a little shooting in warm weather this summer after I installed a new scope.Loads that were fine in 10 deg C or cooler loosened some primer pockets when fired in 30-35 deg weather. Have you had any problems in warm weather? I was thinking about doing some work with some Retumbo powder next summer.

Snowman-I always develop my loads in temperatures around 20 deg C and rarely shoot at warmer temperatures. Our temperatures in alberta and saskatchewan during the fall rarely exceed 20 degrees C so my loads all work well while hunting.I do almost all of my target shooting in the early mornings so temperatures are not overly warm.

After you try the RL25 and the 180 Sierra you will look no farther.start about 91 or so and ease your way up to the 95 to 97 range.3350 to 3400 fps is not hard to get.

Ditto for what Eric said. I use 180 Nosler Partitions and 96 gr RL 25

Reloader 25 95grs and 180 nosler Balistic tips for me. I found no difference between 3.600 OAL and seated to touching the lands. Oh yeah its a 1Moa load for me. But I am flinchy.

I just worked up a load for a buddies .300 Rum he is taking to New Mexico. A 200 grain North Fork with 92 grains of H-1000 and a Fed 215M primer. 3000 fps and a bullet tough enough for anything. Shooting a 180 grain bullet at speeds shown above needs a tougher type such as Nosler Partition or Gold, Barnes X or XLC, Swift A-Frame, North Fork, TBBC, etc. This is just my .02 worth. [Wink] Good shooting.

I USE 87.0 GRAINS OF R-22 WITH 180 GR. NOSLER BALLISTIC TIPS AND FED 215 PRIMERS. THIS LOAD WILL SHOOT 3/4 INCH @100 YARDS OFF SAND BAGS.
