X Dies
I have just purchased a 220 Swift and need dies.
I have always liked Redding dies but on the Swift think RCBS X dies would be a good idea.
Does anyone know if Redding makes a Die simular to the X Die?

I've never seen any kind of "growth control" die from Redding. I have always wondered about the x-die AND WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM SOME OWNERS......It seems to work on a collet principal for sizing the neck. It would seem to me that the x die could be great for making real concentric brass.

How about some x-die owners that have runnout tools......is this the case?????

the instructions for X-dies require you to first off trim the brass to .020 under the book spec.

take it from there......

sleep I have a set that I use for 308 and they work as they say. only thing i noticed was a slight buldge at the base of the neck sholder junction. I will have to check the instruction didnt remember seeing anything about .020" trim.

A few years back a Sportsman Guide outlet store was closing its doors and I picked up a bunch of stuff on sale on the last day and cheap. I have a RCBS X Die for 220 swift left. New never used with all the literature. You can have it cheap if you'd like it. Just pm me.

I've got the X dies in three calibers. After tuning the expander per Kraky's instructions and RCBS setup directions, they work really well. I've got each one set up for a specific rifle. The one X in .270 gives me incredibly small runout--I've got the Sinclair concentricity gage.

If you are getting a bulge at the Case/Neck junction you have the die adjusted to low--expander assenbly screwed to far in. Remember that the internal shoulder stop on the expander assembly is literally stopping the mouth of the case from moving any further forward. Follow the setup directions closely and then tune the expander as well as you can.

After one or two load/trim sessions you will notice the brass doesn't grow at all. I've noticed that my brass doesn't grow much with my regular dies, but just a little--the main thing I like about the X dies I have set up is that they do in fact make really concentric ammo for me.

I've been using my first set of X dies for load development in a 7mm-08, and so far I'm impressed. After trimming down the cases initially per the instructions, the cases seem to grow about .05" and stop. I've used some of these cases 6-7 times.
