<re5513>Nosler 200 gr. 30cal Nosler Accubond, RL-25, 300 Win Mag
The subject line pretty much covers it though I would be interested in anyone's stories on the Accubond as far as hunting larger North American big game (i.e. Elk).
Also, my custom 300 really likes RL-25 (versus RL-22) for heavier bullets and I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has tried RL-25 with the 200 gr. Nosler Accubond.

packratI hope the answer is good, because I'm in the same boat you are, except I'm using the .300 H&H and 4831.

<re5513>Sounds like some folks are waiting with baited breath. There is some information about terminal performance on some fork-horn moose on the board. Also, good accuracy reports have come in.
In Colorado we have a ranching-for-wildlife program that is quite nice. Basically it allows residents to hunt elk on large private ranches for the normal cost of a tag ($30.25). Anyway, LSS, my son has a cow tag that we're going to hunt in about 2 weeks. I picked up some of these bullets to try. I'll be at the range on Saturday this week to get a zero and to chronograph the winning load. Looks like around 78.0 gr. of RL-25 is max.

300winnieI know you did not ask for anything but RL-25, but I did load work up with my .300 Winnie and the accubond with H1000. 80 grains (1 grain over max on Hodgdons website) produced a 10 shot average right at 1" and an average velocity of 3038 fps.

vapodogI have three .300 mags and RL25 is the powder I like best.

P-17I'd also be curious to see if anyone has had good luck with IMR 7828 using the 200-grain Accubond and the .300 Winchester Magnum.

<re5513>Here are the results of Saturday's testing. Weather was wet so no chronograph readings. In generall, my rifle (custom 26" fluted M700, Sendero based) shows RL-25 to be a bit on the fast side. Firing 4 shot groups at 100 yards with the Nosler 200 gr. Accubond, Fed 215 primer, New WW brass, OAL seated 3.493"
Best group overall was with 79.0 gr. of H1000.
RL-25
=====
78.0 gr. 3.1"
80.0 gr. 2.2" (hot)
H1000
=====
79.0 gr 1.2"
81.0 gr. 2.9" (1 flyer, 1.5" group for 3)
IMR7828 is probably worth trying given its burn rate compared to these powders.
Good luck.
All normal disclaimers apply. Don't use this load information blindly. Start low, work up. Stop when excessive pressure is denoted.

jorgeWhy four shot groups. With hot loaded rounds, three rounds is the accepted protocol. jorge
