Didn't quite know where to post this decided to give this topic a try..I bought some older ammo today one type that I know nothing about.They are Winchester rimfire 9mm paper shotgun shells.Box says they are "Adapted to model 36 shot gun cal.9mm.They appear to be pretty old..Can anyone help me out with some additional info?

they were for the 36 bolt action. made from 1920 to 1924.
There was a short 1 1/8" and a long 1 9/16" and some types had metal bases.
both remington and winchester made 9mm until late 1930's.

According to the "2007 Standard Catalog of Fireaems" The Winchester Model 36 was a single shot bolt action made from 1920 to 1927.This was made in 9 m/m long ( which you appear to have), 9 m/m short and a 9 m/m ball. I could not find a Remington loading in this. I looked in my 1923 Modern Firearms and Ammunition catalog also in a 1925, 1930, 1935 jobber wholesale ammunition catalogs and a few other early 30's ammo catalogs. I could not find a reference to Remington making this round. It appears like you have an uncommon box of ammo.
