mailmanmarkOne powder for 7mm RM ?
If you could only have one powder for the 7Mag for bullets 120-160's...what would it be?
Warning: Trespassers will be shot.......survivors will be shot again...........

snowman7828 . It may not be the best with the 120 gr bullets but with 139 and up I have found it hard to beat for top velocity and best groups in 4 different 7mm mags I have owned and several other I've loaded for.

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

wasbeemanThe old standby 4350 worked well for me with 160s.

N E 450 No2Once upon a time, I had a Steyr Mannlicher in 7MM Mag. It would shoot 5 shot groups with IMR 4350, well under one inch, with bullets such as the 120gr Sierra, 140gr Sierra, 140gr Nosler Partition, 150gr Nosler Partition, the 160 gr Nosler Partition, 160gr Norma, and the 170gr Sierra.
It was scary accurate.

The powder ???
There is a notation in the Sierra manual in the 7mm Rm section and I quote;
“In august of 1970, PO2 Thomas Treinen a shooter on the navy rifle team used this cartridge with the Sierra 168 gr. Matchking bullet to win the 1000 yard Wimbledon match and set a new record score at Camp Perry, Ohio. His load was a 66 1/2 gr. of 4831 and the Remington 9 1/2 Magnum primer with a velocity of 3050 feet per second.”
