Just back from the range/30-06 velocities

Just for your information.
I've a custom 30-06 springfield with a 20" barrel.

Shooting 4 shots with Remington factory ammo with 150 core-lockt bullets I obtain the following data:

2.816 fp/s
2.793 fp/s
2.784 fp/s
2.816 fp/s

Two shots with reloaded ammo (180 gr. silvertip with 48,5 grains of IMR 4064)

2.608 fp/s
2.583 fp/s

One question:
Is velocity or velosity (help me with my english) [Big Grin]

The first is correct the other is "taxi english" that we all prominent gringos write and speak from time to time [Big Grin]

How was accuracy with the different loads
Any picture of this rifle?

Those are quite respectable velocities with factory loads from a 20" barrel. Most 150/.30-06 factory ammunition does well to make 2900 fps from a 24" barrel (excepting the "light magnum" loads, etc.).

Don't worry about your English. It's better than that of most of us who speak nothing else and is immeasurably better than my Spanish. Just one hint: In the English world, the punctuation between sets of thousands is a comma (,) rather than a period. The period is used to denote decimal fractions, example: ".308". But most of us can figure out that you are not talking about 2 and a fraction feet per second from your '06!

Thanks, I'll start using the comas, I guess that with that short barrel is more like a 308 win.

Lorenzo, there are English speakers and there are English speakers. Sir Winston said once that the United States and Great Britain were two nations DIVIDED by a common language!! For example, in England, a truck is "lorrie", gasoline is "petrol" and there is DEFENCE in Great Britain, and DEFENSE in the U.S.!!

Your 20" .30/'06 is shooting very nicely!!

there is also something the aristocratic brits used to call the Kings English, when talking down to americans who spoke common english.

However, I note that the King is dead.

In our global world, both Kings English and American Common spellings are now correct.
