trimmed to much, now what
So I trimmed a bottle neck cartridge just a little shorter than I wanted. Admittedly, I will not use this case because it screws up my crimp, but what would happen if I loaded this round and shot it?

craigsterWon't hurt anything. If you look in the reload manuals, the "trim to" length is usually .010" or so shorter than the length of new factory brass.
Have done it a time or two myself-took off a bit too much case.
Just reload with a plinker and fire away.

MickinColoDdunn,
How much too short? A few thousands of an inch are no big deal. An 1/8 of an inch can be a problem. Consistent neck tension is what you’re looking for by trimming cases.

Just enough for me to be unhappy. Well, I needed a dummy round for testing the feeding on my gun anyway.

OLBIKERWhen fireforming cases to AI they often size a 1/10 " shorter on the neck.It hurts nothing.Just be longer before you have to trim again. OB

MickinColoDdunn,
We all can make small errors in the trimming process. Play with it and see if it makes a difference, more than likely it won’t.

jstevensLoad them and shoot them, you won't be able to tell the difference. They'll get a little soot on the case neck, otherwise no change.
I've trimmed a lot of cases .01..or even .02 short on purpose...more reloads before trimming again...not a problem
