The ADI catalogue lists the following for the 150gr Hornady Spire Point 52.0gr min for 2651fps and 46,300 CUP and 55.7gr max for 2804fps and 51,200 CUP.

This is for AR2213SC powder which is supplied to Hodgdon and sold as H4831.

According to my Hornady Manual (5th edition) the loads for a .270 Win. with their 150 gr spire point and H-4831 are as follows:

48.2 gr. = 2400 fps (Start load)
50.5 gr. = 2500 fps
52.8 gr. = 2600 fps
55.0 gr. = 2700 fps
57.3 gr. = 2800 fps (Max. load)

Hope that helps.

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

My load for years has been 58 grs. with 150s and 59 with 130s with todays H-4831 and super mild pressure and good velocity and accuracty. 4831 and the .270 case is a time proven load and a marriage made in heaven....

Mostly however I use a batch of old US. Army Surplus 4831, known as 4831 DATA, or 4350 DATA also...The stuff Jack O'Connor swore by and so do I...I use 62 grs. of this stuff with a 130 gr. bullet and 60 grs. with the 150 and 160 and get about 100 to 150 or better FPS more than anything available today with pressure at 48,000 PSI...

Mostly your limited with the H4831 and surplus 4831 to how much powder you can get in a case and still keep a bullet seated..your pressures are still very low. I suspect IMR-4831 would apply here also, but with just a tad more pressure but still low pressure wise.

Ray, I use the ADI version ie modern H4831SC.

With the the 150g Hdy I use 59g for 2940fps and with the 130 grainer, 62g gets me just over 3100fps.

My rifle is a Zastava with a 24 inch barrel. Fired cases have 69.3g water capacity so a bit of an extra sized chamber. It seems my rifle needs a little more powder than the average to get similar speeds.

Any thoughts? I can't find too many people using this much of that powder, but chrono speeds and the behaviour of brass and the rifle suggests nothing is over stressed.
