<Aaron Bushell>Do a search on accuratereloading. There was a good thread running here last week, had about 15 additions to the thread.

<jayloar>I used a 150gr Hornady SST out of my 300WSM for mule deer this year. Shot was 300 yards and the deer died. Trauma was not excessive. I was pleased with the performance. Don't know if I'll use the same load for elk this coming weekend. Working on a 150gr Scirocco load that is showing promise.

<Rem700fan>I used 150 gr. SST in my 300 RUM on a whitetail this past Saturday. Neck shot at 75 yards. The deer dropped on the spot. Exit wound was over 1 inch diameter. I am very happy with the performance on deer size game, but would probably not use them on bigger game. I am planning to try the 165's next year after I work up a load.

<Don Krakenberger>Hey RemFan--
How fast was that bullet going? I would think you could have been going about 35-3600fps. The fact that you had a 1" exit totally amazes me. Unless you loaded down the cartridge I would think it would be amazing to have the head still attached to the body at that close of range. Let us know what you think velocity was--now these bullets are starting to get my attention.

<jim k>Thank you very much for the info, guys. Thats pretty much what I needed to know.Gunna try them in the 300 wsm and 7mm rem mag.I've been using hornady in all my stuff for years and love them. Thanks again.

Don,
I do not have a chronograph, but from the published data I have found, I would have to guess around 3150-3250 fps at the muzzle. I used 90 gr. of reloader 22. One additional note is that the bullet did not hit any bone.

<Don Krakenberger>FYI--quickload thinks that load would be doing about 3330. I still think that small of an exit is impressive for a 150 grainer going that fast.

KuduKingIn the .300 WSM, I have loaded the 150 grain SST to 3274 fps with H4350 powder, with no pressure problems at all. The accuracy for 3 shot groups was amazing, averaging under 1/2 MOA, from a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight.

<jim k>Thanks KuduKing; I'm not sure I want a lighter bullt than the 165. I do all my .30 cal. in 165.Ihave not needed anything heavier nor lighter, not evan on moose. I like the performance i get with the 165 on everything I hunt.

<Delta Hunter>A couple of weeks ago I shot an 11 point whitetail with the 165 grain SST out of my .300 Weatherby at a distance of about 30 yards. The shot was in the lower rib cage. The entrance hole was about the size of a dime and the exit hole was a little larger than a silver dollar. The deer went about 15 feet and died. I was using 87 grains of H1000, which is well below max. This chrono'd at 3035 fps. I really like this bullet and have worked up another load using 85 grains of H4831sc. This should give me at least 3300 fps. I hope to soon get a chance to see what that one will do on a whitetail.

<jim k>Delta Hunter; that tell me what I needed to know. Thank you.

remboWow, all this talk about SST's, I gotta get me some. A friend is using them in his 280 this year. He's taken a couple deer and a few coyotes and he can't say enough good things about them. I'm going to try the 130's in my 270 first, then maybe I'll try the 139's in my 7 Rem Mag.I just wish they made with a flat base, not a boat tail.

<Sniper>I loaded the 165 grain SST in my 308 Winchester. Took a buck at 75 yards and he dropped on the spot. Took him angling away behind the shoulder and the bullet exited on the opposite side of his neck.
I plan on loading some for my 7.82 Lazzeroni Patriot when I get it.

<Bowser>Loaded 140 gr. SST's for a (factory).280 Rem. to 3000 fps. After spanking a doe broadside at 230 yds. I was heard to mumble while dressing out the deer, "this just too too devestating"
