vinesammo going up in price
this may not be the right sight to post this, but this is where everyone goes to read. I reload alot, but sometimes i go to wall-wart to buy some value pack 9-MM at $19.00 per 100.. I was told be them and some other people, that ammo was going up anywhere from 500 to 1000% in January. what have yall heard, and how will it effect reloading.. do we need to be stocking up

vapodogIf ammo is going up (I haven't bought any) it's a temporary thing and not materials related....It's the election caused panic buying and simply the demand exceeding the supply.....if it goes up then relax....it'll come down after the folks think they have enough to run ther little private war.....Obama won't be able to increase taxes in January...he's going to be overwhelmed with other things....
500-1000% is pure BS speculation.....

onefunzr2I agree with vapodog. Price of gas came down. So did the price of steel and non-ferrous metals. There's no reason for a 500 to 1000% increase. Perhaps wallyworld really doesn't want to be in the ammo business anymore? Screw them! Shop somewhere else.

Red C.Is there legislation pending that would account for such an increase in the price of ammo? I don't buy ammo--load all my own, but am concerned with the price of components going up, although my concern may be totally unfounded as the price of things that make loading components is going down.

ARTJR338WMI know for a fact that NO#-1 grade copper cables price per pound bare has droped over 70% in the last year (from a high of $3.35/lb to around .90c/lb) so it is not the cost of raw materials that could cause a rise in prices of ammo.
17 November 2008, 08:25
ARTJR338WMHow could Obama cause a 500% rise in ammo costs unless he passes a new fed ammo tax? and that would be easior said than done.

He won't.....he's on record as advocating a 500% increase in the taxes on ammo.....but that don't begin to translate to a 500% increase in product cost.

33806whelenI suspect that after they get regular ammo sales restricted and taxed all to hell, they will come after components also.
No one should feel safe because they roll their own ammo.

and that's why so many are stocking up big time......and consequently raising demand and then prices....it's the law of supply and demand.

Would any of "them" care to make a large wager?

I believe the excise tax is 11% ao a 500% increase is a 5,500% tax. Outrageous!
Everyone should contact their representatives and object. And, don't forget to remind them that they are up for reelection in two years.

mstarlingYou need to check your math. A 500% increase (equal to a 5x rise) on an 11% tax takes it to 55%. A 500x increase would be 5,500%.
Still outrageous at 55%.

Oday450I appreciate the correction. Was so angered by the actions of these Socialists that I failed to use decimals in percentage.
Don't miss the real point of the message - we need to replace the leftist SOBs in the next Congressional election. If we can't replace Obama, then do away with the majority in the Congress.
