fredj338magnum pistol loads
I'm thinking of switching to a diff. powder for my magnum pistol loads. I've used H110 & W296 for years but they are kind of messy in my Dillon 550B measure. Anyone have a suggestion for a better metering powder out of the Dillon powder measure? Thanks!

I do not know what caliber you are reloading for, but you might try 2400. I use a Star loader and I have not had any problems with 2400, 0r H 110 for that matter.

fredj338Thanks NE450, I've used it in the past, good powder for all of the mags, .357-45colt. H110 slips under the powder bar on my Dillon & makes a mess after 100rds or so. Maybe I'll go back to 2400.

Paul HFor heavy for caliber bullets, I have yet to find a better powder than H-110, it provides top velocities and excellent accuracy.
That said, for ligher for caliber bullets, 2400 is an outstanding powder. There is also another new powder that seems to fit in between 2400 and H-110, and that is Lil-gun. I don't know how well it will meter out of a Dillon, but it is larger grained than H-110 as I recall.

marlin55I am sold on Accurate Arms AA #2. You can load about 10.0 Gr. for 1200 ft. vel. with a 240 Gr. Bullet in a 44 Mag. That powder is very close to WW 231. Marlin

fredj338Sorry Marlin, AA#2 is max. @ that vel. I would just use Unique for mid range loads, but looking for something that doesn't spill out of ny Dillon. PaulH, you might get me to try LilGun.

Bigdog2I didn't see whether you want hunting, target or plinking loads but HS-6 and HS-7 work well in the medium velocity range in 44s. Though I must admit I don't remember trying them in my 550B.
Will Dillon replace your measure for one that doesn't have the problems your having with H-110?

<cobra44>Fred this is an old question I found while looking around if you are still looking a buddy of mine is starting to load for 454 Casull and .460 S&W Mag, he has used two powders for the 454 so far that he said he likes and they are LIL'GUN and 2400 don't know the specs but you might take a look at the charts.

billinthewildFor general shooting loads I have used Titegroup and it works well in the Dillon.
I also use some VVN110 for a 45 Colt load; for the high end stuff I use 2400.
