Concho,

the load I am using is 73 gr of Varget behind the 500 gr woodleigh......................I think the powder is a bit slow and am going to try (when I get a chance some AR2206H (am at work and am not sure what Hodgon equivalent that is)

With that heavier bullet Varget may work for you and my load is mild at 73 gr....................but start off at 70gr and work up to possibly 80 gr.

Off the top of my head that powder may be a tad quick for the heavier pills.

Hi: Can't give you specifics on your cartridge..
but I found with that big bore you need
pretty fast powders to be most effective.
I would think 3031 too slow...
As an example, I used to shoot a .50 Alaskan,
(.510" bore)...and a 700 gr. hard cast,
gas check bullet. I had to go as fast as
IMR 4227 powder, even IMR 4198 was a tad slow,
it worked, but 4227 was even better. I got
about 1750 fps with the 700 gr. bullet.
A Big Thumper!

Hi: I looked up the .50-110 Winchester in John Donnelly's "Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions". It lists a load of a 600 gr. lead
bullet & 37.9 gr. of IMR 4198. Reasonably close to your 525 gr. bullet...can start there & work up a bit. As I thought, it needs a fast powder...
best Regards,
Tom
