Sioux.270 with 90-100 gr
Has anyone reloaded 90-100 gr in the .270, I have a friend that wants to reload his .270 with those bullets. He asked but I was unable to give him any info since I am new at this game. So if anyone has "ANY" info I would appreciate it.

MyNameIsEarlIn my 270 WSM I tried both Speer and Sierra 90 Grainers. The Sierra performed great (accuracy wise) with Reloader 19. As I recall the groups were around .75 to .85 of an inch. At our forest range there is a well casing at 475 yards and I was hitting it every time with those little boogers.
I do not recall the velocity, my notes are not accessable right now, but I believe they were around 3500 fps? My gun liked it with a max charge of R19.

plainsman456i have reloaded them and they work great on varments i also shot a whitetail with the 100 gr.sierra at about 150 yards when i looked the hide was split all along the underside, but he droped right there.i used rl-15 at 52.0grs and rl-19 at 63.5grs.they were accurate for me,just work up for your rifle.good luck

seafire2What is he using it for?
I am taking one young man hunting this season, who inherited dad's 270...
I put together a load of 27.5 grains of SR 4759 and a 90 grain Sierra HP...
He is hunting blacktails with it, which is more than adequate.
Sierra's manual has loads for it, that I believe you can pump up the velocity as high as 3500 fps with the 90 grainer.
for hunting, their 110 gr SP is also a great bullet for faster velocity, and still capable of taking a deer....
the 90 grain HPs need to be kept under 2800 fps or so for use on Deer, or else they will perform like a varmint bullet and blow up without penetrating to deeply...
