i reload several different cartridges and have had this problem before on other rounds but was able to adjust the die to clear it up . have adjusted on the 380 alot and cant clear it up it is making a ring around the brass where the bullet base is when seated loading from sierras load sierra 115 gr .355 jhp brass was measured and trimmed when needed looks like it does when your crimp is to deep but i ran it all the way out like a straight wall case still did it then i seat the taper sizer deeper to open the case more and then that die makes the ripple in the brass? thanks for any suggestions

I have it often in a straight wall pistol case. Is it a ring or a bulge? My guess without looking at it is your sizer is reducing the OD down to a point that when you seat the bullet it expands the case back out and leave the ring. No big deal

yeah it has got me too had this problen on 45 acp and just backed the taper up and set the seater deeper worked great but not on the 380

i'll take a guess that the sizer is overdoing its job and that the expander you're not running far enough down so that the base of the bullet is starting to crumple the case as you seat it

A Lee Factory Crimp Die will fix the problem for 12 bucks or so.

may have to get that . i tried 90 grain hornady today no ring or bulge cant seem to get the 115 sierras to load in anything but the win brass without the bulge . maybe the brass is thicker or something i give up 90s are fine for it i will use the 115 s in the 9

I had a similar problem loading 380, the belling die would fold the case in on it's self. Come to find out it was only on the speer brass which must be thicker. I had to back the belling die out and barley bell it and it was a pain in the ass to seat the bullet it had to be placed very flat and true to the case mouth to seat. Got them loaded and they all shoot good, only I won't be picking any of them up to reload again.
