Winchester 64gr..224"?
Does anyone have any experience with Winchester's 64gr bullet? Is this a good bullet? I would like to use it in an AR with a 1-9 twist.
Any comments?
Loads?
Success?
Failures?

I use the factory silver box stuff in .223 from time to time. I used these out of a 1/14 twist 22" Contender barrel to take a deer down a 175 yards last year. Shot went in through the tops of both lungs and took out the cord also. Deer dropped in his tracks.

They also shoot well out of my .223 700 VLS with a 1/12 twist. They hold up better it seems for longer range shooting in the wind. This was just for PD shooting, so they were pretty accurate.

It is a good bullet that even does well for deer if one insists on using a .22 for such game. Aim well!

Tested out of a Bushy 16" 1/9 twist, the 64 gr. PP gives 2695-2710 fps with 26 grs. Varget, Win. brass, and CCI400 primers. Out of a 26" barrelled 1/9 twist Win. Stealth with 26.5 grs. Varget, the 64 gr. PP gives 3156 fps, Win. brass, and CCI BR4. As with any load, use caution and work up. This is a pretty good bullet, but Sierra 69 gr. MKs group tighter with 24.5 grs. Varget.
