Jeff SullivanReloading Success
I am new to reloading, and my family and friends have had doubts that my "homemade bullets" (as my wife and kids call them) would be able to kill a deer. Well as of today, I have killed 4 with my homemade bullets out of my new to me Sauer 202 270 WCF. I have killed 3 does in Texas and a 145" 11 point in Oklahoma this morning. I am using 57 grs of IMR 7828SSC and Fed GM210M primers behind a 150 gr Speer Hot Cor.

Thomas JonesNice buck !
Do you find it more satisfying to load you own ?
I do.
I hunt with a couple old frends who are brothers. One took to my hand loads right off the bat , but the other took some convincing.
He took his second elk with a 160 grain nosler acubond from his 7mm Mag. said he never saw an elk drop like that. convinced !
So I had a little hand in his kill even though I was at work 50 milea away.

Fish30114Jeff, congrats. That is some good success on the whitetails, and it definitely is satisfying to shoot one with a load you put together for your rig.
There is a lot of good factory ammo available now-a-days, but it will never be better than a load custom built for your rig, and will never have the 'It was my cartridge' factor!
Good going!!

I have killed over 150 whitetails in my years of hunting, and I have taken more pride in the four that I have killed this season with my reloads.
I also am finding myself at the range much more than usual to do further "load testing".

308SakoJeff lovely buck!
Try the Nosler Accubonds @ 140 grains for that 270, and stick with the IMR 7828 if your rifle shoots well with that powder.
Yes the satisfaction increases with the knowledge of the handloads.
