arcticatLee classic cast press...
Lee classic cast press opinions.
The lee classic cast is one of the least expensive presses out there. But it looks well built and is made in the USA.
Are they good enough for accurate hunting ammo?

wasbeemanI bought one just because of all the "experts" (that do their product evaluations by price) said they were junque. I figured they couldn't stay in biz as long as they have by selling junque so I got one.
I found it to be a well made, tight piece of eq. Have they cut corners over a press that cost several times as much? Yes, but not where it counts. It compares well with the RCBS presses on my bench.
I have used mine to make match rifle ammo where I was checking out the effect of run out and out of about 100 rounds, I got 7 that were over .002 out. To translate that into accuracy, the straight stuff shot 10 shot groups that measured @.250. The 7 crooked ones went into a group that measured @.750.
Spend the money you save on a tumbler or a Chrony.

Jerry LilesI have one and I'm impressed. I like it better than my Rockchucker.

Tyler KempI used a Classic Cast turret press for years, recently let a friend borrow it.
Loaded some accurate ammo, plenty of groups under 1moa and 1k.
I like it a lot to load things I don't need "absolute accuracy" for, using my Co-Ax for those just makes me feel better.
Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!
Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

Well, my old RC II still works so I won't buy one now. But if I had to replace it tomorrow it would for sure be a new Classic Cast, it's the better press of its type no matter the price differences.
All machining is done on modern CNC tooling so alignment is as perfect as possible. Others seem to vary a bit more than they should.

cessnaI'm using one right now. It does exactly what I want it to do. With the right dies it always puts out cartridges with .003 run out or less. Good enough for me.
Good press as far as I'm concerned. I've also got a RCBS and it does just as good.
