<bigcountry>Bullistic Tips Advice Needed
Everybody I know has such great luck out of Nosler BT. So I figured since I was bored this winter, I would try them for my .270Win. Now with 130gr Sierra BT Gamekings, 47gr IMR4064 and a 210 Fed Primer, this thing seriously gets .5" groups repeatably all the time.
But my groups with the 130g Nosler Bullistic tips open up to 1.5 to 2" loading from 45-48gr of IMR 4064 and 52-55gr of IMR 4350. Now, I have been loading this bullet to match the length that I load the Sierra 130gr on a Stoney Point Comparitor guauge. Before I waste more time on this bullet, could someone give me some advise on the seating depth? Like for instance, most loaders claim Barnes like to be seated deeper than other bullets. Maybe this bullet needs more a jump? I already load it 3.32" OAL. About the max I want for my magizine.

steve yTake the Gameking load and play with the depth both ways .005" at a time. It may be just a little difference in the ogive shape.

1894Look I'm the first to jump to the defence of BTs because I've had such good results with them in my 6mm and 6.5x55 but I wouldn't even consider changing that load you have.
BTs tend to be more accurate - you don't need to improve on your accuracy.
BTs tend to open quicker - I doubt this is needed with a conventional 130gr 270 load. Unless you are having problems with under expansion leave alone.
No harm in playing of course. BTW I have generaly found that BTs take up more powder space as they are longer and have more shank/bearing surface. Try reducing your load and hence pressure.
