264 Winchester Magnum
I just picked up an older Remington 700 in 264 Winchester Magnum. I am looking for loads that use the 120 Nosler BT or the 120 Remingtion PSP.

Also, are ball type powders useful in this caliber or should one stick with extruded powders?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I had one and just traded it off. The best load my Supergrade mdel 70 had was with the 120 gr ballistic tips. 64.5 gr of H4831sc, OAL 3.23, CCI magnum primer, WW case, groups under an inch and chronographed at 3385 fps(average 20 rounds 26 inch barrel. One of the reasons I traded the gun, was I was a bit worried my deer would wander out this year at 25 yards and I would have to shoot it at close range at that speed.
PS did you get your dies?

6MM,

I just worked up a load for the 120 gr Ballistic Tip in my old 264 WM M70. I used RL 22 and the load is over the 62.5 grs that the Nosler manual shows.

My velocity is 3340 fps and it's very accurate. This lot of RL 22 may be slow and I will work up again on the next lot.

There is very little new data on the 264 WM.

Ramshot Magnum is a ball powder that works fine.

I own a 700 and a 70 in 264. The best powder for 120s and 140s is RL25.

For 120s a max load of 71.5 grains for 3,500 fps
For 140s a max load of 68.0 grains for 3,300 fps
Both of these loads are accurate and show no signs of pressure.

Both loads will have the same point of impact at 100.

My Win 70 classic in 264 shoots 120 NBT over 64 gr H4831 at 3225 fps, which is 75 fps less than listed in Sierra #5 for this load. In my rifle it is a very accurate load.

I agree with the above on RL 25 with 120`s but I am sold on Retumbo with 140`s.

I shoot a M70 Westerner and it loves the 140 Sierra SBT, the best powder in my gun has been H1000. I chrono almost 3100 with no pressure signs.

Thanks to everyone for the great loads, I am looking forward to trying them out!

Martin, I have never heard back from the other fellow with the dies, so I will be sending you a pm to purchase your dies on the Gunnutz forum.

My favorite hunting bullet in the 264 is the 125 Nosler Partition. Try it - You'll like it.

Try 73.3 gr/H-870 and the 140 Sierra or the 120 and see how your rifle likes it. VERY accurate in my old 264.Ball powder too. Good luck,

The old Nosler SB 120's and IMR 7828 is the best load in mine. It's killed alot of deer for me.
