.25-06 Pet loads
I'm just starting to work up some new loads for .25-06 with Hornady 75 gr. V-Max bullets. Does anyone have any good loads that they would like to share?

For varmint hunting with my 25-06 I use the following:

Remington brass
Fed 210 primer
57 grains IMR 4831
Hornady 75 grain V-Max

In my rifle this load gives 3570 fps and half inch groups.

5-shots at 200-yards.
Firearm: Ruger 77R
Optics: Leupold 3.5-10x
Case: Remington
Primer: Winchester WLR
Powder: 53.3 grains of H-4831
Bullet: Nosler 120 grain Spitzer Boat Tail

I found that:

Bullet: Sierra 120 Grain HPBT
Powder: 47.7 grains of IMR-4350
Primer: Winchester Large Rifle
Case: Remington
Firearm: Ruger 77R
Velocity: 2922 FPS @ 15' from muzzle

printed exactly the same as the first load.

Steve: nice groups. I found it interesting that all your powder charges are not to the nearest grain. Do you test all your loads down to the nearest 10th of a grain? For example would you test 49.1 grains, 49.2 grains, 49.3 grains, etc. with a given bullet and powder? Have you found that +/- 0.1 grains changes the grouping ability? Thanks for the help. Jim

My ruger 77 (old style tang safty) likes IMR4350 at 51.75grains behind 87grain spitzers. I use federal 210 primers with winchester brass. The crogragh says 3270fps with a standerd devation of 20fps. I have had no pressure marks and this load works for me. Also I use 50.5grains of the same powder behind 100grain spitzers.
