PhilR.30-06 w/ Northforks
Has anyone developed loads for the .30-06 with Northfork 165 gr. spitzers? I'm waiting for a response from NF, but would be interested in others experience with this combination. Thanks.

im not sure which powder you have in mind, but just a suggestion R17 !!! 58 Gns give or take a grain and you should have a top load
for years i used the 180 gn nosler @2850 and shot everything with it, then tried the 200 gn nosler @2700, and the more i used it , the more i liked it and now i use it for absolutly everything.....54 grains gives me 2725, with the 180 56 gns gives me 2900 , so with your 165 NF START @57 and work up in half grain increments and you should get your self a really good load....R17 i think was made for the 06 ...it is magic...better then MRP and that is saying something

twilliIs North fork still in business? I used some for my .340 weatherby for my brown bear hunt and was very happy. Flattened him like a pancake.

North ForkHi Twilli,
We are still in business.

Hi PhilR,
I don't remember seeing an email, but I may have overlooked it.
For the .30-06 load, I can tell you what I use. H4350@56gr. Not a real barn burner, but if your gun wont shoot 4350, get another one.

John

eagle27The Aussie manufacturer of H4350, which we know as AR2209, says a typical 30.06 load with this powder and a 165gr bullet is 59.0grs for a MV of 2835fps. Their catalogue contains other minimum and maximum loads for specific 165gr bullets.
