375 Whelen improved.
Anyone have any load data for this one?.

Thinking about it for the next wildcat.

Have a 375 H&H but thought this would be a good thumper for brown bear while fishing.
maybe a 22 inch heavy barrel in a Ruger 77.

Depends do you mean an Ackley Improved or just the concept of a blown out 06 necked up.

Look at Fred Zeglin's sight z-hat.com will give you and idea of potential.

Frogman You should give some thought to building a 9.3x62. It has a .366 bore instead of .375.It is also a factory loaded round.

As of today, I still have a barreled action for the 375 Whelen AI. the laminated stock hasn't arrived yet.
The load info I have is, among others, for a 270 Hornady SP.

270 gr bullet... IMR 4064 58 gr (MAX!) 2410 FPS.
According to the artical, 2410 was the best speed in the guy's rifle, with this bullet.

The Hawk is a little faster, but the 380 Howell is faster yet, about 50 fps less then the H&H.
Had I known about the 380 Howell two months ago at the time my rifle was being made, I'd gone with it!
I still intend to shoot the 375 WhnAI, and do some hunting with it. ~~~Suluuq
