Mike Brown.225 winchester
I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I've been reloading for the .225 winchester now for about 30 years and always looking for new powder and bullet combos. Has anyone done any reloading in this caliber with Ramshot powders? Thanks in advance for any and all info.

vapodogThe .225 Winnie was my first varming rig and I loved it.....a superbly accurate rifle but I burned the barrel on prairie dogs after a few years and rebarreled it with a barrel chambered for 22-250. I doubt that 225 win data is available for Ramshot so suggest you use .22-250 data and interpolate based on several powders. You've been reloading for 30 years so I know that you understand what I mean by interpolate.

Mike BrownVapodog, Thanks for the response-thats pretty much what I figured I'd end up doing-just hoping someone had done some of the leg work for me.

Jay JohnsonMike here's their website if you don't already have it.
RamshotI know they have data not shown on their site. You may want to contact them by e-mail or phone.
I've always thought about a .225 boy the factory brass is getting pretty rare on those babies. Good luck.

Bobby TomekJay-Actually, .225 Winchester brass is very easy to find -- always has been. There are enough Contender shooters out there loading the smaller JDJ rounds to ensure that the demand creates a sufficient supply.
Most of the better-known mail order outfits carry .225 Win brass.

It seems everytime I start thinking about one I go look and the suppliers are out? May be time to look again any suggestions.

olarmyMike: My 225 has always preferred 4064. But recently I introduced it to Varget and it seems to like it even better. 63gr Sierra and 50gr TNT are its favs...

Mike BrownJust checked this morning on brass availability and Graf and Sons as well as Lock,Stock and Barrel show it in stock. Graf has the better price but it's still spendy compared to .22-250 brass.

Bobby TomekGraf's has .225 Win brass for 15.69 per 50 count bag. They list 22-250 brass at nearly $27 per hundred...so there's no that much difference in price.
There's also e-bay, and from that site, I've bought .225 brass for $10 per bag before. For 200 pieces, it cost me $48, and that was the shipped price.

Ouch! I guess I'm spoiled. Use to paying $26 for a thousand .223 cases. Even with it being available at that price the action that is waiting for me to make a decision what it's going to be isn't likely to be a .225.
Tac 20 just keeps looking better.
