Reloading for the Rock River 308 and 223
Hi guys I need some advice on the following two guns. I reload occasionally, mostly big bore stuff like 470, 450, 375, never tinkered with the small stuff. Does anyone have any advice on reloads for the following guns?

RRA Mid-length A4 .308
16" 1:10 twist
Probably 150-168 gr

RRA LAR15 Varmint A4
20" 1:8 twist
Probably 50-60 gr

I have done a search and came up with some good advice, but could use some pointers.

Thanks.

for the POWDER. I like 4895. 4064. RL-15.. these powders will load both rounds. you just have to pick the right speed for your rifles..

I find that trimming the cases to length is very important.

For the 223 (have the predator) it likes the 50gr nosler BT with H335, and BLC-2. Using max loads for AR-15 according to sierra's manual.

Also likes the 50 gr Vmax with H335 (same zero as black hills 50gr vmax).

I trim to max length with no crimp.

The following load for the 308 is one I have used for over 30 years. There are a lot of good owders for the 308, but I was given this load by a friend, and I have used it and seen it used in many, many 308's, including bolt, lever and semiauto.

It has done extremely well in all of the ara-Military 308's including the AR type 308's

The Load:
39.5gr of IMR 3031.
165gr Sierra HPBT Gameking, the 168 Sierra Matchking, 165gr Nosler Partition, or the 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip.

This load has worked very well with the above bullets and I have taken a lot of game and shot a lot of competition with it.
I use Federal or CCI standard primers.

It is not a hot load.

Thanks Guys. Good info.

NE 450, I will try that load. Is that a load I should start lower with? or is it a minimum, or close to minimum load? (90% load).

For my RRA .223, (and this is just me) It likes AA2230. Got to Accurate's website for load data.

You may want to try the 69 or 75 SMK with that 1 in 8 barrel. I like Varget with mine.

You could shoot the 80 grain bullets loaded .015 off the lands with varget, mine is sub-minute at 600 yards, they do not fit in the magazine but are very accurate.

Usually around 37.5gr of IMR 3031 is listed for a starting load with 165/168gr bullets, and around 41 gr as Max.
