Az_SpeedDevise/Jig for bullet measurements????
In using the RSI Shooting Lab program, it asks for a number of different measurements of the bullet being used to do drag and gyroscopic stability analysis. Is there a devise or jig of some type that facilitates the measurement of base diameter, tip diameter (meplat), nose length, tail length (boat tail), etc.? Squinting with a dial caliper just doesn't seem to cut it and the bullet mfgs. don't want to give out the information "due to its proprietary nature". Any suggestions?

rootbeerGet a 10X loupe on a stand and quit squinting. Short of having the design drawings for the bullet, I can see only that you'd have to take measurements with a caliper (preferably a digital electronic .0005" type) and go from there. But do get a lopue and save your eyes; they're about twenty bucks.

eshellA relatively inexpensive 'comparator' device, from Sincluiar International, would enable you to use your calipers to make many of of the measurements you mention accurately. With two such devices, the bullets bearing surface may be measured and compared and the other measurements based upon the beginning and termination of the bearing surface may also be measured.
