MauserkidCold Loads
Has any one ever tried to keep there ammo cool, or cold during target sesions?
Is it more stable?
Does it respond like other fuels?

PyrotekSmokeless powders respond to temperature changes. Hotter makes it burn faster, cooler makes it burn slower. But I have never tried cooling them, just make sure you don't cool them so much that they gathers condensation on the cartridge.
Temperature is one more variable you want to eliminate or control.
Any time I'm at the bench, I keep track of the temp. in my load data books. I wouldn't cool the ammo. But I'd try to shoot it at the same temp all the time.

dentonSpecifically, keep track of barrel temperature. It is more important than some people give it credit for being. For some of my work, I tape a thermocouple on the barrel, and watch the temperature, not my watch to time my shots.

craigsterNo matter what the ambient air temp, I always try to keep it in a shaded spot while I am shooting at the bench or blasting ground squirrels.
