Alan RC.O.L. of Hornady 9.3x62 286 gr ammunition?
Just received my order of 286 gr Hornady bullets. I'd like to start load development with the factory COL. If anyone is running this ammo, I would very much appreciate the COL.
Thanks.

wildboarI load them at 86 mm. My CZ550 can accommodate the ammos in the magazine and the bullet doesn't touch the rifling. The useable case capacity is bigger than the 9.3x66 Sako at his standard COL. The bullets have a cannelure but if you seat them accordingly, the COL is quite short, about 81 mm. That is too short IMO.

NakihunterI would not worry about the theoretical COL when reloading. What action is the rifle?
It is a matter of keeping within the magazine length & finding the seating depth for best accuracy without jamming the bullet into the lands.
Being a 9.3, you are not looking for 300 meter accuracy. Having said that, you might be surprised at how well it shoots. Sorry if I am sounding off... you probably have more experience....
I would be interested in your results on game with this bullet. I use Lapua Mega 285gr, TSX 250 gr & Woodleigh 320 gr. They all shoot on the same vertical line & the Woodleigh shoots 6" lower. The TSX shoots 2" high & the Mega is an inch high. I haven't shot much to compare field results but the 3 bullets are all well known field performers and easily available here. I understand that the Privi Partizan is also a very good game bullet & very cheap to shoot.

Alan RMy 9.3x62 is a commecial Husqvarna with a generous '06 mag box length and a long throat. I currently load and shoot 250 gr Accubonds. While I can take advantage of the long box and throat....and have...accuracy suffered. For consitent accuracy, I need to seat the AB's .230" off the lands.
While I can't remember the last time I've ever used factory ammo for a hunt, I usually try to duplicate a factory load in the event I need to buy ammunition. The odds a very low I'd be able to find 9.3 ammo in the towns closest to where I hunt....but...ya never know.

Rick RI load the Hornady bullet out to fit the -06 mag box on my rifles. That sets the cannelure a considerable distance out of the case. From looking at the pictures on Hornady's website they're crimping in the cannelure.
Accuracy is good, to date I've shot one good sized whitetail buck and performance was fine. Caliber sized entry hole, not many bullet fragments in the track and a 2" exit hole.
I almost used them for this year's trip to RSA but went ahead and loaded up with Partitions which hit to the same POA/POI in my rifles.
