john c.30-06 questions
i got some 06 brass from the DIAMOND K BRASS co. awhile back in arizona. he states on his site that a few of the brass may show a ring or an "0" punched on the side of "some" of the brass and it was due to being tested for brass qualilty and so he throws in a few xtra to make up up for em. also says he will make it right of u don't like it. my question is ...has anyone tried these "0" marked brass? safe? as far as a "few", the first 15 i randomly grabbed showed only 10 w/out the mark. before i kick up a fuss i wanna see if anyone has had any real world experience w/em.
also..i wondered if 2520 is a good powder for garands? yes i know there theold standbys but i don't have any of those in stock.
thanks

larrysFor me, it would depend on the rest of the batch. If I had a number of good brass without the "O" on it that was equal to the number I ordered, I would just load the stuff without the "O" and go on. they were kind enough to let you know ahead of time, as opposed to the crap that has been coming out of Winchester lately.
If you didn't get good cases equal to the amount you ordered, then call and ask for replacements. I would toss the "O" brass.

Never heard of proof marks on brass. In any case, they probably shouldn't sell the random test samples. Not that there would be anything wrong with them, but some guys won't like it; as evidenced by your question.

vapodogI rather suspect the "O" on the side of the case is from pressure test barrels that are used in the CUP method.....
Personally, I'd consider them unfit for reloading.....I'd scrap them....this leaves one to wonder just what the others are.....

john c..30-06 SPRG Remington-Peters (R-P) Headstamp Certified Once-Fired, although some have never been shot.
Processed Test Brass - 500 ct
**Tumble Polished**
**DISCLAIMER: Some of the Remington-Peters Rifle brass has a circular mark just beneath the case neck which is an impression left by the piston hole ring attachment that pressure checks the brass. We had samples sent in and tested to ensure that it DOES NOT compromise the integrity of the brass. To our understanding, it is purely a cosmetic issue and not one that affects the quality of the brass. It is not on all of the casings, only some of them. However, if you experience any issues with them please feel free to contact us and we will make it right.**

SnellstromWell that pretty much explains it. I would just use them as they say you should.
I have no experience loading for semi auto 30/06's but if I recall I thought H4895 was the bomb for the gas guns..

Pa.FrankAgree with Snellstrom........
4895 is
the powder for the Garand.. followed very closely by 4064.
I've owned 11 Garands (only 2 left) and 4895 and the 168 gr sierra match bullet was best.. I forget the charge, and I can't look it up cause I'm at work goofing off, but it was nowhere near the max.

Lamar2520 is in the Varget/4895 burn rate area so yeah it is suitable for the Garand.
it's when you get behind 4350 and on the other side of 3031 your out of the Garands window.

AtkinsonHe gave you enough extra brass to make up the difference if I read you correctly,,Id toss any brass that had the O or send it back for a refund..any indention on new brass should not be, He should not sell it IMO...why take a chance..It might raise its ugly head after a number of reloadings, who knows,,better safe than sorry for a 20 cent case..

lawndartUnlike Ray, I would just shoot it all. The Garand loads are pretty mild to stay within port pressure limits. Kind of like shooting a pistol with some holster wear; it still shoots just fine.
