Does anyone have anything, pro or con to share on the Redding T-7 Turret press?

Just subscribing to this thread since I'm looking at the T7 also.

I have one (got it for Christmas). I like it. It is very solid and the turrent locks up tight. It is a heavy press ~35lbs.

I've had one since they came out after using single stages for 25 years.
The press adds no runout that I can detect and haveing dies already set up is a great benefit in my opinion.
Mine is set up more as a multiple die holder than as a progressive so I don't know how effective it is in that mode .Clearances are tight and turret requires some effort to rotate.
Be sure you have a good stout bench and mount it solidly. It's built like a tank.
I reload 3 calibers in fairly large volume and 6 others in small lots.
The longest is 30-06 and there is plenty of room.
The distance from the shell holder to the bottom of the turret is over 4" so it should handle most calibers.
No complaints whatsoever.

Thanks for the response. I'm planning to use it as a multiple die holder also, so thought I would buy a second turret. Any thoughts on ease of changing turret? Also, how difficult is it to change shell holders? Do you have the 'autoprime' feature, and if so, does it work OK?

All you need is an allen wrench to to change turrets.
Just unscrew allen bolt in the center of the turret.
I use O rings on my shell holder so it's a little slower than just snapping them in and out like the stock setup.
Don't know if Oring makes any real difference, but it's one of those things I do because I've always done it.

Mine came with the standard flip primer arm, but I never use primer arms.
I've always used a hand or bench mounted primer tool.
I haven't heard anything bad about the autoprime, but many people don't like the lack of feel using a press to set primers. Just an opinion.

Would anyone care to compare the Redding to the Lyman T-Mag II? The only reason that I'm considering the T-Mag is that I prefer to use my left hand to operate the press, and the T-Mag will work either right or left, while the Redding is set up only for right-hand operation.

I'm dieing* to buy something, but I'm a bit of a cheapskate. Didn't I see an ad somewhere for
a newish RCBS 7 station going quite cheap.
Anyone got one. They need to bring out a model with a multi station shell holder as well. Preferably self indexing to the turrent.

I only have only used the standard primer arm that comes with the press. It works fine except you have to handle every primer and put in the "primer cup". I will probably up grade my press with the auto-primer system. Redding lists it at $45 and it will hold 100 primers. I also took my turrent off to see how it worked. As mentioned before, you just unscrew one bolt/nut with an allen wrench and it lifts off. One word of caution, there is a spring loaded ball-bearing at the back of the press that pops up. It won't fly off - at least mine didn't, but you need to be careful and not lose it or knock it off. So far, I have loaded for both my 300WSM (short case) & 416 Rigby (long case) on mine and am verry happy with the results. I ordered an additional seating die for my 416 Rigby, so I can seat a bullet and then rotate the turrent and crimp it without adjusting my die.

I use a T-7 for all my ballistics laboratory loading. Only a Harrells is more accurate. Nothing is sturdier.

Thanks for the info. I actually ordered my press form Midway. I don't know why I didn't think to look there for a autoprimer too.

Santa brought me one for Christmas and my wife couldn't be happier! Keeps me quiet out in the garage! I have about 10 different calibers I could load for, but so far have only done .257 Roberts., .300 Savage and .450 Marlin. Having 7 die stations is real handy, especially when I'm loading for 2 or 3 different bullets for the same caliber. Right now I have 4 .257 dies, 2 .450 dies and a .300 Savage seater installed. Hmmm, sounds like I need another turret!

The Redding is the cheapest here that I could find. They have the auto prime for the Reddung for $23.95 The T-7 is 169.95, the RCBS is $134.95. They also only charge actual shipping.

Thanks for the link...I just hit 'process order' and now wait for the UPS truck. From the response I've gotten, I think I'm really going to like that press. I did order the primer feed and an extra turret.

F4J - I'm anxious to get into reloading. 30-30 and 22-250 and .32 auto and perhaps .38 special or .44 special.
I'm set on buying some Redding equipment and was pondering the t-7 vs the bigboss. Please let me know how you like the t-7 and the auto prime feeder.

I don't have the T7, but do have the older model 25. It's quite the good press. I'm guessing they are pretty much the same in operating, the head rotating on a ball bearing. Actually it's a good setup, even if it feels loose. Your round will index on that loose head. Don't try to tighten it all the way down. You'll foul up the self indexing feature. I found my reloads with it to be about equal to my Rockchucker in terms of concentricity, which came as a big surprise. Best wishes.
