F A brass
Still working on sorting and boxing my pails and boxes of brass. This last pail of mixed mil. 06 netted me 750 F A 57 cases. I cleaned them, went to size, and process primer pockets before putting them away. The primers are not crimped. I sorted some earlier that said F A MATCH that were not crimped. These aren't crimped either, did F A not crimp their brass?

No FA match brass has never had crimp primers to my knowledge. When I was shooting NRA DCM matches starting in the early 1960's we always tried to obtain FA match ammo as the "old timers" said it was capable of better grouping. I'm still working my way thru all the FA brass we picked up in those days.

I do have ball FA ammunition that does have crimped primers.

Most NM brass was not crimped; since it was not destined to be used in MGs, or in combat, they didn't need it.
Some "match" ammo is crimped; much of the "7.62 special ball" which has match bullets, is.

So would these cases be match brass even if it isn't stamped MATCH on the case?
