I have a question for someone more learned than me. I am ordering a 6mm PPC with a .269 neck. Drawings of the cartridge on a web site I looked at shows the standard 6mm PPC neck size as .261. Would I have to turn the neck of this brass to get it to fit or is that enough room? Someone told me that normally tight neck chambers in this caliber are .262. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Before you start doing any metal removing, take a look at this drawing:

Al, depends on which brass you use. If you use PPC-USA brass (Norma or Sako, both now discontinued), the neck dimension of your loaded rounds will be about .264-.265.

If you use reformed Lapua 220 Russian brass (which is what "everybody" is using for 6PPC), or reformed Winchester 7.62x39 brass (from EABCO, for example), your loaded neck dimension will be .270 to .271. The Lapua has about 7% more case capacity than either the Norma or the Win, too.

So, unless you have a supply laid in of the Norma or Sako brass (at $1.00 a piece or more), you will end up turning the brass down a couple of thou. No biggie. I pulled a "Tom Sawyer" on my 9 year old, he did 100 of them in two evenings . HTH, Dutch.
