bartscheAn oddity???

In loading some .223s using LC04 cases ( third use) the cases went into the die like butter but came out hard. In the anaysis three rims were ripped off and of course the cases stuck.
In trying other used brass the problem was there but to a much reduced extent.
The dies was thouroughly cleaned and inspected under 3 power magnification. There were some micro longitudinal gaul marks. Really can't say that was the problem though. also noted was a counter sink at the base enterance to the die. This seemed odd as I had never noticed this on any other die.It was almost always a rolled crown cut.
First I stoned by hand ( no Dremel) the inside edge of the counter sink. Than ,again by hand I polished the inside of the die with a slurry of BON-Ami and an orange degreaser. Whatever was causing the problem was reduced so that the extraction force came down by a factor of at least 10 with the LC04 cases which now feel just like the other cases

N E 450 No2What case lube are you using?
I recommend Imperial Sizing Die Wax. I think Redding sells it now.
