tommynRemoving Moly from bullets?
I have a bunch of Starke varmint bullets that I want to remove the moly from. They have big, big hollow points and don't want to tumble them and get media in them. I thought I had seen where someone had used simple green cleaning solution to remove the moly. Any ideas. Thanks

krakyThe directions with my MS Moly kit say "before" moly coating clean with a hot water solution with a little ammonia. I'm sure someone is going to say that will make the bullet weak but, it's not like it's going to "soak into it". If afraid to try this maybe some of the "citrus" claners. BUT, if moly is like they say and you can't get it out of a barrel with some of the cleaners we use in there, well, I think you'll have to resort to something pretty potent to get it off the bullets. Let us know what you did and how it worked!! good luck

<Gerard Schultz>Automotive paint thinner will remove as much moly as can be removed without dimensionally changing the bullets. Just dump the bullets into a shallow container and use a stiff bristle brush. Roll the bullets on a cloth to dry and leave them in the sun to dry thoroughly. Auto paint thinner is highly flammable and the fumes can get you high if you breathe too much of it. That is why hotrods have such crazy paint schemes.
