Source for Case Volume?
Hi,

Is there any source listing the case volume for the various calibers? I know this volume will depend on actual brass measured, but it would still be interesting to know approximate volumes - e.g. what is the volume of a 7mm Rem Mag case vs that of a 7 WSM?

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

As Tyler said ammoguide has many of them. QL has the data in their program. However I've had 280 Rem cases vary as much as 3-4% between manufacturer.

QL shows the 7mag as 82 the 7WSM as 81.1. Ammoguide calls it 7mag 80.8 and the 7WSM 79.9. Chuck Hawks has this list on his site http://www.chuckhawks.com/rifle_case_capacity.htm with the 7mag as 83.2 and 7WSM as 83.

Safe to say the two are basically the same and every source will be slightly different. Best way measure your own cases.

As usual just my $.02

There can be quite a difference between new, FL sized & neck sized cases too.

SAAMI specifies the external dimensions. No one specifies the internal dimensions.

Thanks guys, I did not know ammoguide.com, and I had forgotten (or never paid attention to) case volume listings on QL.
