best powder for 308 and 150 grainers

I am about to reload for a buddies 308 winnie and his bullet of choice is the 150g Nosler Par. or just 150's in general. I have several loading manuals and I was amused at the numerous powder choices. I have narrowed it down to Rl 15, 12; Viht, N135 and N140; IMR 4895, 4064, 4020, and Hodgens Varget. My questions is, If you had to go to one powder what would it be.

FjoldI would try IMR4064 first. I've used it successfully in 308's with 150 and 165 grain bullets for years.

LE270My first choice would be IMR 4064.
I don't like Varget. I've never seen any application for it for which there wasn't some better choice. But some shooters swear by it, so maybe they know more than I do about it.

I tried varget, 4895, 4064 and ramshot tac. My results with 150 grain spire point were ramshot was very accurate, and 4895 was very accurate as well. Varget and 4064 both achieved good groups but the 4895 and the TAC gave me the best results.
Most people are link slinkies, Basically useless but fun to push down the stairs.

Jay GorskiI've tried IMR4064 in a Browning and RE15 and H4895 in a Remington. In the Browning 4064 gave me 3/4" groups(3 shots) with NBTs. RE15 gave the best in the Rem., albiet with 150 Sierra SBTs. Just under an inch.
I like RE15 over 4064 since it goes through my measure better, though, theyre about as close you can get as far as burn rate goes. Jay

308SakoI've been loading the .308 for 33 years now and IMR 4064 has been the powder of choice for my many .308's. However the best accuracy I have recently found is with the VV 135, so I must at least mention that.

6.5 SWEDEI have had good luck with WIN 748, in 150 grains, and also 165 grains. Isn't it great to have choices on what you can use.

Bill McI use XMR 4063 in my 308. It's probably very close to IMR 4064.
