RL 17 for bigger bores
RL17 is supposed to be a substitute for IMR4350.
Does anyone have any experience yet with calibers .35 and larger, especially 375 H&H and 416 Rigby??????

Thanks and Good Shooting

Yep we had a lot of quessing and calculations. Big Grin I believe Mighty Joe found that in a 20.5" 416 Ruger he was better off with RL15 than Rl17.

As usual just my $.02

Thanks guys,
My concern has mostly with 375 H&H 24 inch bbl.
and
416 Rigby also 24 inch bbl.
Want to try this powder, need a starting point.
I've been shooting 95 gr. H 4350 in the .416
Rigby. From careful study of the Aliant book
looks like I need to start about 8 gr. less,
and run a couple over my Oehler 35P chrony.

Any other ideas send them on please. Will also check Big Bores but didn't want to post twice.
That's not nice.

Good Shooting

It shot many good groups but this is the load I settled on

No pressure signs

You have a little less powder capacity in the H&H but it should be close

Start on the low end of course, my Pac-Nor 3 groove may not develop as much pressure as a typical barrel

Thanks Woods,

I'll be shooting 350 grain North Fork bullets in the 375 H&H and I see you are mostly using
270 grainers in the Ruger version. Probably a
little too much difference to interpolate. (Note the big word, Will might be impressed)
Looking for 2350 fps. for the 350 gr cup nose solids. Serious buffalo medicine. The Alliant guide only takes the powder up thru 338 Win. Mag. Have been unable to find out if RL17 is also not Temperature sensitive like RL15. Anybody know about this?????
