muygrandeRL 23 loads any but 280AI SPECIFICALLY
What are your loads with 139/145 grain Barnes LRX or any 130-140 gr in a 284 caliber rifle? Specifically seeking 280AI data but will use what you have.
Data seems to be hard to get from alliant or barnes. Thanks for your help.

muygrandeWow!
RL 23 must be nowhere near as popular as many have stated.

hivelosityI looked through my reloading manuals.
R23 is not that popular for the 280 or the 7mm.
Did you try calling Alliant see if they have done any test?
R23 is a fairly new powder about 5 ys old.
R16 and R22 appear to be the go too powders
loads here that look interesting

Your looking wrongs places.
https://www.barnesbullets.com/...-Ackley-Improved.pdfMy 280AI has lilja barrel and I tried 145gr LRX with R-17 and was so-so. I have 284 on long action so I can seat out to 3.250" and LRX shot real good in that rifle and that rifle one I really wanted to try.
I've seen some of the data using R-23 but haven't tried any.

muygrandeYes thank you I have that page. No loads with the newer powders, RL 23 or RL 26. Am using H4831sc but wanted to try the Rl 23.

30.06kingDon't know if this helps but I am trying to work up a new .270 W load with Hornady SST 130 gn.
I have a load already with H4831sc giving a bit more than 3000 fps. So far with RL23 I am getting nearly the same accuracy with slightly a lower charge but about 100 fps more MV. However, a bit more fine tuning required yet.
Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

This may not help you but Speer has data for 280 using their 145gr bullet with R-23.

Maybe it is just too new? I am using it in my .270 Win. with 130 gr bullets ( no published data that I could find) and it performs better than anything else I have tried, best accuracy with velocity. I started with Re22 data, reduced it about 10% and worked up from there. In my .270 it is a little faster than Re22. You do need to chronograph to do this kind of work.

ZekeShikara bit off topic:
I've been using RL-26 in my Creedmoor with 140's and 147's and my 6.5 X 280 AI with 140's and cannot see a reason not to try some in my reg 280 AI (currently using IMR 7977).
I have a can of RL-23 but have not used it in anything yet.

muygrandeThanks ya’ll for the info. I waited for months to find some and FOUND an 8lb. Sure HOPE it works! Have 270, 280, 280AI, 300 HH and wby. Surely it will be good in some or all! Using H4831 and RL 22 in above at the moment.
