Harold R. Stephens257 roberts.
Without a Chroy, is there a way to estimate the velocity of Ruger MarkII 22" barrel with a 100 grn Sierra Spitzer BT on top of 49.5 grains of H-4831Sc over a Remmington 9.5 primmer?

ramrod340Loadtech calls it 3040fps. I have no experience with actual data for the Roberts to hint how close it is.

Harold R. StephensThanks, your $.02 is worth more than my $.00 on this subject.
I will plug that into my spread sheet and see what my come ups are. I don't know if I can make it to the 2 and 3 hundred ranges before the pig hunt this weekend. I will have to verify the drops at the leese.

buckshotThere most certainly is. Set your targets at 100, 200, and 300 yards -then shoot. Given a 100 yard zero and a trajectory table, you will be able to extrapolate your velocity from the drop recorded at those distances. Not perfect, but it'll work...

Snellstrombuckshots method is a good one, I've used it for years.
In Hodgdons #27 manual they have 1 100gr bullet with 45grs of H4831 at 2660fps and Max load of 49.0grs at 3010fps, and these stats are with a 26" barrel. 4" difference with an adverage of 45fps per inch lost=180fps if the barrel was 22" So, that makes there max load at 2830fps.So, even though your over there max load by .5grs your still between 2800-2900fps i figure. hope this helped.van

Donato49.0 grains of IMR 4831 and 100gr Barnes TS gave me 3,200fps out of my long throated 26 inch barreled Ruger #1

Sure it could have but IMR4831 is a different powder than H4831.

ole_270In my 22" Ruger, 46-H4350-100 Hornady with a Win. primer is about 3035 fps. The 48.5-H4831SC version of the same load runs about 2905. Two different rifles are fairly close with both loads.

tnekkccQuickload has nothing about primers, but 22" 257 Roberts Sierra 100 SPBT 1625, 49.5 gr H4831sc = 2954 fps at muzzle, 48,569 psi, 11,711 psi muzzle pressure [loud], 105.0% fill ratio
scope 2" above bore, sighted in for 200 yards = 2411 fps, will be +1.4" at 100y 2679 fps, -7.5 at 300 y 2159 fps, -22.3 at 400yards 1921 fps
