lawndartNeed a bit of 416 Taylor Help
High guys,
I need three 416 Taylor cases so I can make up dummy rounds for MADDOGS rifle to be tested for feeding. I have the form die on order (for use with 458 Win Mag brass), but that will be a while out. I haven't been able to locate any preformed brass either.
When I run straight 458 Win Mag brass through the 416 Taylor sizing die the very front of the case gets crumpled.
Thanks for your help.
LD
John,,,have you tried an intermediate sizing die like a 375 to help form that neck?

Sorry can't help I just formed my 416 brass in my RCBS reloading die. I've since sold all my 416 stuff.

lawndartHi,
The problem is that this brass is just a little too long for the sizing die.
I may just try trimming some off the end before I run it through the sizer.

I Hunt ElkLawndart, Go to Graf & Sons. They have 416 Taylor brass there...It's Jamison brass, and I have had excellent luck with it.
L-D,
If I remember correctly two articles on the .416 Taylor in "Big Bore Rifles & Cartridges" recco'd necking .338 Win. Mag. brass up instead of .458 Win. Mag. brass down.
Just a thought.
Send me a PM with your address and I send you some once-fired.

lawndartThanks Guys,

I'll also get some Jamison.
Necking up was a PITA when I tried that last weekend.
